The Conference sought to provide a forum to identify, promote, discuss and inform the evolving practices and policies in Irish Graduate Education.

The Conference's second day coincided with the first day of the National Academy for Integration of Research, Teaching & Learning (NAIRTL) third annual conference, also hosted by Trinity College.

Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Jon Butler, Howard R. Lamar Professor of American Studies, History, and Religious Studies and Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale. Prof. Butler discussed Yale's initiatives to support increased PhD completion rates and timely completions, including its participation in the Council for Graduate School's 'PhD Completion Project'. The conference included presentations and workshops on the graduate student experience; structured PhD programmes; and student development.
