Ireland's National Portal for Open Access Research Goes Live!
Ireland’s new national portal for Irish 'Open Access' published research went live on 8th June 2010.
RIAN - http://www.rian.ie will act as a single point of access to national research output, and contains content harvested from the institutional repositories of the seven Irish Universities and Dublin Institute of Technology.
RIAN will significantly increase the visibility and impact of Irish research and will expand to harvest content from other Irish Open Access providers as the service develops.

The Book of Kells - Analysis of Style and Design Through the Application of Techniques in Non-photorealistic Rendering
This multidisciplinary research project will tackle some long standing problems associated with the style and design of decoration within the Book through the use of digital media.

Inauguration of Professor Brian MacCraith as President of DCU
The Inauguration of Professor Brian MacCraith as President of Dublin City University takes place on Tuesday 13 July 2010 in Dublin City Univeristy, Glasnevin.
Professor MacCraith received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics at NUI, Galway. He joined the staff of Dublin City University in 1986, and shortly thereafter established the Optical Sensors Research Laboratory. In October 1999, he became founding Director of the National Centre for Sensor Research at DCU and, in 2005, was appointed Director of the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, an Academic-Industrial- Clinical partnership, after leading a successful proposal to Science Foundation Ireland. He serves on the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology and the Forfas Advisory Science Council.
